At the inspection dated Nov. 20, 2019 there were 55 children and 11 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Licensee to correct noted violations and submit written documentation to Licensing once they have been addressed.
Manager was not present at time of inspection.
* Upon arrival it took Licensing 5 minutes of knocking on the door into the hallway to Centre A & B before a staff person heard them to open the door. The entrance doors into the hallways to each centre has a keypad/ swipe pad to enter only. There is no buzzer/ bell to allow a visitor to inform staff that they are needing to enter the facility, this is a challenge for Licensing when they conduct unscheduled inspections. Licensee will need to find a solution for Licensing to be able to gain access to the facility when the manager is not present..
Licensing was unable to access: staff documentation, children's documentation, emergency drill logs as they were locked in a filing cabinet in the manager's office & no one on site had a key to the cabinet. Licensing will schedule a follow up inspection with the manager to review these items upon the manager's return.
During inspection Licensing observed:
- children in all centres engaged in outdoor free play. Children in Centres A & C had transitioned from circle time to outdoor play time during inspection
- staff were interacting with children while they were engaged in activities assisting with problem solving when necessary.
