Introduction

An scheduled follow up inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).

Today's follow up was to review the facility's Administration systems in relation to Children's Records, Staff Records, Emergency Management records and Communicable Disease Control, that were not reviewed during the routine inspection.
The Licensee and Facility Manager were present for today's inspection.
A tour of the facility was not completed today.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Audit of staff files revealed one file missing a valid Criminal Record Check
Corrective Action(s): Please obtain and maintain all legislatively required documentation

STAFFING: 12070 - CCLR s.19(1)(d) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.
Observation: Audit of staff file revealed one staff missing Credential validation certificate
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all supporting documentation of a staff's training/skills is obtained and maintained

STAFFING: 12210 - CCLR s.23(1)(a) - A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
Observation: Review of staff files, revealed missing valid first aid certification for one staff
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all legislatively required documentation is obtained and maintained at all times

Comments

At the inspection dated September 17, 2020 there were 4 children and 3 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Please provide Licensing with supporting documentation demonstrating that all relevant staffing documentation is present and valid by Friday September 18, 2020

The contents of this inspection were discussed on-site, however the completion of the Facility Inspection Report was completed off-site and was sent to the Licensee/Manager via (email/mail).

All missing staff documentation was submitted to Licensing prior to the completion of this written report, therefore successfully addressing all coded violations.

No signatures were captured during today's inspection. Time spent includes report writing time.
