Comments

The writer found the Licensee to be in full compliance with the legislative requirements for the 4th year in a row. The writer would like to acknowledge the hard work done by staff and the Licensee in achieving this status.

The writer discussed the following with the Licensee:
Lead in the water - Licensing is encouraging all child care providers to help reduce the amount of lead children may be exposed to by running the water that children have access to for 2 to 5 minutes to flush the tap of lead. A handout was provided to the Licensee regarding this topic.
Supervision - Director of Licensing Standards of Practice Active Play and Safe Play Spaces speaks directly to active supervision. In addition to staff being aware of how many children are in their care at any one time they must actively supervise the children. Active supervision is a combination of close proximity and attention, watching, and listening. Staff must be able to move through and see the entire play space.
Reportable Incidents - if a child in care is involved in a reportable incident as per Schedule H of the Child Care Licensing Regulationchild care staff must report the incident to Licensing within 24 hours. If staff are unable to contact their Licensing Officer via telephone please call (604) 587-3936.

The writer would like to thank the staff for their time and assistance with today's inspection. The writer and the Licensee discussed the possible need for the Licensee to apply for a temporary placement commencing September 2018.
