Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standard of Practice (DOLSOP). All care categories were assessed for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed the outdoor area requires some maintenance which includes clearing the tree debris and ensuring cleanliness of the outdoor equipment..
Corrective Action(s): Licensee must ensure that the outdoor area is maintained and ready for play at all times.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11230 - CCLR s.47 - A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation: Licensing observed the water temperature at 56.6 degrees celsius. Licensee said they will ensure that it is under 49 degrees celsius.
Corrective Action(s): Licensee must ensure that the water temperature is no more than 49 degrees celsius.

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated March 6, 2024, there were 5 children in care with the licensee.
At the inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. Please provide Licensing with a written response, by the date noted below, stating how the identified contraventions will be addressed in order to ensure year round compliance.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed. A copy of the report and the corresponding Risk Assessment was emailed to the Manager.
