Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: During inspection, it was noted that there were no records of when the monthly fire drills and annual emergency plan were conducted.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure monthly fire drills and annual emergency plan are recorded as proof that they have been conducted.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: During inspection, Licensing reviewed children's records and noted two children were missing their immunization status.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure immunization status is on file for each child.

Comments

At the inspection dated June 11, 2021 there were 3 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee include providing a written response.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

A COVID-19 Risk Screening was also completed.

During inspection, Licensing did not observe a service tag on the fire extinguisher. Licensing was unable to determine if the fire extinguisher had been purchased in the past year. Licensee to ensure fire extinguisher is serviced annually.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Reportable incident procedures
· Regularly check dates of emergency items and supplies
· Additional sanitizing/cleaning of the facility including toys and equipment
· Removing items with a DIN from the first aid kit
· Current photo or digital image of children
