Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standard of Practice (DOLSOP). All care categories were assessed for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: The cushions on 2 chairs had visible stains.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the facility, equipment, fixtures and supplies are clean and in good condition.

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated March 14, 2024 there were no children in care with the Licensee.
At the inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified.
Please provide Licensing with a written response, by the date noted below, stating how the identified contraventions will be addressed in order to ensure year round compliance.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed. A copy of the report and the corresponding Risk Assessment was emailed to the Manager.
The following items were discussed:
- Discussed section 4 of the CCLR which identify use of any phrases when identifying/advertising programs.
-The space where the children use for arts activities is warmed using a space heater. The Licensee said the space heater is no scald and safe to the touch.
-There are some boxes stored in the children's play space - the Licensee said those boxes will be moved shortly.
-There is a computer/screen setup in the rec room where children play. The Licensee said that set up is not always there and will be removed shortly.
-There is a pond in the outdoor play space. The Licensee says that the pond is not accessible to the children unless she is directly supervising.
Additional Information:
This report was written off site. The summary items and the contravention noted in the report were discussed with the Licensee before Licensing's departure. A copy of the report was emailed to the Licensee.
