Introduction

An unscheduled follow up inspection to the Routine Inspection # SWAR-AP6QE4 dated July 11th 2017 was conducted. Areas of non-compliance identified at the Routine Inspection were reviewed for compliance.

Licensee had responded to the coded items in writing.

The following contraventions have been addressed:
12090 - Staff immunization status are in place
12190 - Staff identified during the routine inspection no longer works at the facility. Licensee stated the fire drill for this month is to be conducted in the next 2 days.
12250 - Staff identified at the routine inspection not modelling appropriate guidance is no longer employed at the facility. Staff on site today were observed to be providing appropriate guidance
13050 - Fire drills are recorded
14230 - All staff are orientated by the Licensee
15030 - Licensee responded to hygiene practices being encouraged and tables are sanitized prior to eating
19070/19160 - All children's files are now complete

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

On site today was the Licensee and one other staff with 22 children.
Staff to child ratio was in compliance.

Licensing discussed attendance records with the Licensee as the Group Child Care school age program attendance was not very clear although complete. Licensing recommends re-evaluating how the information is laid out to ensure clarity in an emergency situation.
Discussed active play and screen time policies - Licensee will send a copy to Licensing for review by December 8th 2017.

No concerns at todays inspection - children were engaged in a variety of activities such as sewing; colouring; free play manipulative activities.
Staff were also engaged with the children and provided positive role modelling.
