Comments

Routine inspection, including initial inspection for new Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and waxing services.
Services: Esthetics (facials, "body sculpting", waxing); IPL (skin and hair removal).
NOTE: You are not permitted to provide any services that are restricted under the Health Professions Act.
Esthetics:
- Facial services using creams etc. and "body sculpting" services - using room with hand washing sink.
- Body sculpting equipment has a Health Canada medical device licence. **Please provide medical device licence number again to Fraser Health.
- Use equipment as per manufacturer's instructions and as per your training class/certificate.
- Equipment and wand is used on intact skin. Disinfect after each use.
- Facial mask applicators are cleaned and disinfected. ** Include procedures in your infection control plan.
Waxing:
- Using room with hand washing sink.
- Single use (disposable) wooden wax applicators and waxing strips.
- No tweezer use (no removal of ingrown hairs as per operator).
IPL skin "rejuvenation" and hair removal:
- IPL machine has a class 3 medical device licence from Health Canada.
- Equipment must only be used by those training on device. Training certificate provided.
- Using room with fully closable door, hand washing sink, and there are no windows in room.
- **Post appropriate IPL warning sign on door when equipment is in use. Note the current sign says class 4 laser which is not applicable to this device.
- Eyewear for clients and for operator is provided by the equipment manufacturer.
- ** Verify the optical density and wavelength for eyewear (if applicable) as it is not shown on the eyewear.
- ** Verify what disinfectant is safe to use on eyewear. Note: Eyewear for clients does not come in direct contact with eyes/mucous membranes and does not require high level disinfectant.
- Cover reflective faucet at hand sink when equipment in use.
- No numbing agents used. Using ice/cold cloth.
- Single use items include: razors, cotton balls, gauze.
- Razors are single use and must be disposed of into a sharps container. ***Provide a sharps container.
- Two intermediate level disinfectants are available (wipes and ready to use liquid disinfectant). These provide intermediate level disinfection if used as per label. ** Verify with manufacturer if these can be used on laser wand and/or eyewear.
General:
- ** Update your Infection Control Plan as discussed and provide a copy to Fraser Health Authority (such as in PDF format with each service, list of disposable items, list of other items and how they are disinfected, list of disinfectants and how they are used). For example, remove disinfectants not being used, indicate if disinfectants are used full strength or diluted, provide contact time, etc.
- Hand washing sinks have hot/cold water, liquid soap, and paper towels in dispensers.
- Clean up sink available near cupboard used for chemical storage.
- Laundry cleaned on site. Use hot dry setting.
