Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).
All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Previous Inspection - Not Applicable
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12150 - CCLR s.19(4)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (b) a responsible adult unless the person has the qualifications required under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications].
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): On review of 5 staff files, Licensing observed that 1 staff did not hold a Responsible Adult (RA) qualification when working as an RA with the school aged program. This Staff stated that a transcript can be provided which outlines the necessary training requirements. This was not in the staff file at the time of inspection. The Staff provided an outline of the course material identified which would meet requirements
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a copy of the staff's transcript is available for review in the staff file at all times.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: On review of a random selection of 10 children's files, Licensing observed that 2 were missing enrolment dates.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all information is complete at the time of registration.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: On review of 10 children's records, Licensing observed that 1 was missing a doctor's contact information. Manager stated that this child was withdrawing.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all information is complete at the time of registration.

Summary of Inspection
Today was an early dismissal.
At today’s inspection there were 14 children in the Preschool program and 13 children in the school aged program and 3 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Licensee is required to submitted a written response to Licensing by the date below.
Licensing will review the response. No follow up inspection is required.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed and a copy was provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided through discussion:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Temporary Placements
· Active Supervision and outdoor play
· Appropriate staff documentation
