Introduction

An unscheduled first routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: 4 children's files were reviewed; 2 children's MSP number were missing.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all children's files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19190 - CCLR s.57(3)(a) - A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.
Observation: No consents were obtained from the parents for all children enrolled ( medical emergency) in case the parents cannot be immediately reached.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all children files are complete.

Comments

On the inspection date of May 11, 2022 there were 3 children and the Manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance by below date.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool. This inspection and the risk assessment were completed and a copy was provided to the facility.
LO discussed the following with the Manager:
- Temporary Placement ( email link provided)
- Reportable Incident & Minor Incident log: to keep a log of minor incident/illness/ unexpected events not requiring medical attention and not Schedule H
- Staff record requirement for sub
- Physical space (entrance/hallway): keep the foyer clear and free of any potential fall/ tripping hazards
- Emergency supplies
