Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: During the routine inspection it was noted that he food in the emergency supplies bin was expired and there was no water available.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure you have enough water and food to prepare for, mitigate, respond and recover from any emergency.

Comments

At the inspection dated March 01, 2023 there were 8 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Temporary Placements
· Active Supervision
· Lead in the Water
· A conversation was had regarding the validation of the ECE certificate of the staff on duty. A note was added to the file that the certificate was validated and is valid, but no paper proff was on file showing the validation.
· A conversation was had regarding a care plan for a child who uses a puffer. The information was in child's file and available. However the staff was advised that the information from the registration form should be transferred to a care plan; the information is to be presented to the parents; care plan must be signed by the parents and reviewed annually.
