Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations

LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that the community care facility licence and the name of the manager were not displayed on-site. Corrective Action(s): Ensure that the community care facility licence and the name of the manager are always displayed on-site in a prominent place. Date to be Corrected: This was corrected during the inspection STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person. Observation: Licensing observed that one staff's CRC was expired. Corrective Action(s): Ensure that staff files are updated and that the CRC is attained from the review board. Comments

At the inspection dated Dec. 20, 2023 there were 18 children and 3 staff present. The manager was also on-site throughout the duration of the whole inspection. At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee includes a written response. The contraventions noted in this report were reviewed with the facility manager during the inspection. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The following recommendations/discussions were provided: - Care plan procedures - Screen time policy - Outdoor play area repair - Organization of files and procedures A copy of this report was sent to the facility.
