Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted on February 4, 2022 to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were reviewed for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12210 - CCLR s.23(1)(a) - A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
Observation: Upon asking for facility records, the Licensee said that her first aid was expired and she had a plan to get recertified on the weekend.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children have immediate access to an employee who holds a valid first aid.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: Upon review of the fire drill records, there were 2 months where the fire drills had not been recorded.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) emergency training and equipment.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: Upon review of the children's files, 1 record did not contain a date of enrollment.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the children's files are complete.

Comments

At the inspection dated February 4, 2022 there were 4 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will provide Licensing with a written response. As part of this Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment was completed and a copy was provided.

Licensing provided a business card.

The information contained in the report was discussed with the Licensee and Licensing stated that the report will be emailed to the facility.
