Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Shelving unit located at the entrance of the nap room is not secured
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all shelving over 3 feet in height is secured or removed

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Fire extinguisher has not been serviced since June 2021
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure fire extinguisher is serviced annually

Comments

At the inspection dated March 7, 2023 there were 6 children and 1 staff present.
At this inspection the above noted contravention were identified. The Licensee/Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance however a written response is required.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. For this inspection the contents of the Facility Inspection Report and Risk Assessment were discussed and provided to the Licensee and/or Manager while on site.
