Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance with the exception of the outdoor play area that is maintained by the Burnaby Parks Board. Staff confirmed a playground check is completed prior to playing in the outdoor play area.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
MEDICATION: 16010 - CCLR s.53(1)(a) - If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.
Observation: During the inspection Licensing observed that several items with a drug identification number (DIN) were in the first aid kit. A permission to apply these products is required prior to application. This is a repeat contravention from inspections # GSIU-ASBP96 and #CLAN-BMCW2Y. These were removed during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a signed permission form is completed prior to applying items with a DIN number.

Comments

At the inspection dated May 31, 2022 there were 17 children and 3 staff were present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Please correct the above noted contravention by May 31, 2022. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was sent to the Manager.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
-The reportable incident reporting procedure.
-The current communicable disease prevention protocols that are in place
