Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: The writer observed a climbing unit comprised of plastic blocks. The writer noted that these items are showing signs of wear and tear as in some areas the foam is exposed. The items are no longer cleanable as foam is porous; additionally there is the potential for children to ingest pieces of foam.

Corrective Action(s): Repair or replace this item. The Licensee may chose to remove this item from the activity area until such time as the item has been made safe for the children to access.
Date to be Corrected: 23 March 2018

STAFFING: 12430 - CCLR s.56(1)(b) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation: The writer reviewed three staff files and noted that 2 of the files have criminal record clearance letters addressed to someone other than the current Licensee. The Manager indicated that for one individual the current letter is located at their other facility and she will apply to have the results shared with her for the other staff member.

Corrective Action(s): The Licensee will make a copy of the current criminal records clearance letter for the one staff and apply to have the other individuals clearance letter shared with them.

Date to be Corrected: 03 April 2018
