Observation: Staff on shift did not have a valid FOODSAFE Level 1/equivalent course training in the absence of the Manager. One staff member on-site had an expired FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate (expiration date: January 17, 2022).
Corrective Action(s): Ensure at least one staff member on shift in the absence of the Operator/Manager has valid FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent course training; this was communicated to the Manager over phone during the inspection. Please have enough staff register for a FOODSAFE Level 1/equivalent course to fulfill this requirement and provide an update to the district Environmental Health Officer of Fraser Health by April 30, 2022. Maintain copies of valid FOODSAFE Level 1 certificates for staff on-site in an accessible location for review during future inspections.

Comments

Handsink in the front service area and 3-compartment sink in the back area were supplied with liquid soap, hot and cold running water, and single-use paper towels.
Staff were observed washing hands properly prior to handling food and food contact surfaces during the inspection.
Walk-in-cooler, under-the-counter, and sandwich coolers were at or below 4 degrees C.
Walk-in-freezer temperature was satisfactory.
Hot-held food was at or above 60 degrees C internal temperature.
200 ppm QUATS sanitizer was available in the third compartment sink unit, sanitizer spray bottle, and sanitizer pail.
No signs of recent pest activity were evident at the time of inspection.
Food storage areas appeared to be clean and organized.
