Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation: Licensing observed that the manager's name was not posted in a prominent place within the community care facility.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the managers name is posted in a prominent place within the community care facility

LICENSING: 10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation: Licensing observed that a copy of staff certifications were not posted in the community care facility. The manager mentioned that they are in progress on posting them.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a copy of the certificate of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility is posted in a prominent place.

Comments

At today’s inspection there were 17 children, 5 staff (including manager),1 practicum student, and 1 support worker present.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to licensing by Jan 23/23 stating how you have addressed the contraventions. Licensing will review the response.
As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed. The risk assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection, a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation. This is used to determine inspection frequency.
The contents of the inspection report were reviewed with the licensee/manager and written on-site. A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager and a paper copy mailed to the facility.
The following was discussed with the manager;
- Care plans
- Maintenance of change pad
- First aid kit supplies
- Exemption renewal
