Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All designated areas of the facility from where the childcare operates were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection -
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11160 - CCLR s.16(3)(a) - A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.
Observation: At the time of this inspection due to increased wind conditions a section of the fencing has collapsed. Licensee advised that children will not be taken outside in the outdoor play area until this is addressed and advised this will be addressed by the weekend (March 2 or March 3, 2019).
Corrective Action(s): Ensure fencing is stabilized to provide for safe outdoor play. Licensing discussed the BC Maintenance grant that may be available to assist with cost. A interim plan including timeline to address the fencing will need to be submitted.
Date to be Corrected: Interim outdoor play plan to be submitted by February 27, 2019.
