Observation: The underside of the door handle for the walk-in cooler is oily and filthy.
Corrective Action(s): The entire door handle shall be cleaned and kept clean on a regular basis to prevent cross contamination.

Observation: The area under the double sink is filthy.
Corrective Action(s): The area under the double sink requires cleaning and shall be kept clean on a regular basis.

403 - Employee lacks good personal hygiene, clean clothing and hair control [s. 21(1)]
Observation: Observed staff using the same pair of disposable gloves to carry out multiple tasks.
Staff were not wearing cloth masks properly and were constantly adjusting them.
Corrective Action(s): Disposable gloves shall be changed between tasks. Before putting on new gloves staff shall wash their hands with liquid soap and paper towels. All staff are issued cloth masks with company logo on them, however they do not appear to fit the faces of all staff persons properly. One staff person was observed wearing the cloth mask without it covering their nose, and they were constantly adjusting the mask. Proper fitting masks shall be provided to staff so that their noses and mouths are covered and do not require constant readjustment. Recommend operator provide cloth or single-use disposable masks that have a metal band that can be molded around the bridge of the nose for a more proper fit, and different sizes for different staff.

Comments

General observations:
Preparation cooler, double door cooler and pop cooler were 4 degrees Celsius or less.
Walk-in cooler was 8 degrees Celsius but fell to 5 degrees Celsius near the end of the inspection. Discussed with staff to minimize opening and closing the walk in cooler where possible to prevent fluctuations in temperature.
Freezer was -18 degrees Celsius.
Hot holding unit was less than 60 degrees Celsius but pizzas on display are discarded after 90 minutes and the time they are on display is monitored.
Food storage practices were generally good.
Organization of storage areas was satisfactory.
Hand sinks were stocked with liquid soap and paper towels.
All sinks were equipped with hot and cold running water.
Bleach sanitizer (spray bottle) had a chlorine concentration of 200ppm.
Single-use paper towels are used with sanitizer to sanitize food contact surfaces.
General sanitation was satisfactory - except as noted above.
Chemicals were stored in a safe manner.
No signs of pests.

Physical distancing measures were in place and high touch areas in the dining and food preparation areas are disinfected every 30 minutes. Self-serve area for fountain drinks has sign posted informed customers to use hand sanitizer before dispensing drinks.
