Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Review of four staff files found one was not site specific and 2 were not obtained, Licensing did review a document on file that demonstrated that one CRC was applied for.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all staff have the appropriate Criminal Record Check.

Comments

At the inspection dated August 10, 2022 there were 18 children and 4 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. This inspection and the risk assessment were written off site and a copy was emailed to the facility.


The following education/recommendations were provided:

- Families may document a walk-in clinic on child's registration.
- Digital photos are acceptable.
- System in place for checking emergency food supply.
- Ensuring staff files are available on site and contain all required documentation.
