301 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not maintained in sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A liner for a container and a container lid was observed in the handsink. Tongs were stored in murky water in a cup that was placed in a handsink overnight since yesterday.
Corrective Action(s): The food contact surfaces were washed, rinsed, and sanitized in 100 ppm chlorine sanitizer by the person in charge. Do not leave any utensils/equipment/tongs that contacts food in the handsink or in unclean water. It was discussed that the tongs should be placed in a clean container (not in stagnant water) and then washed, rinsed, sanitized, and air dried every 4 hours throughout the day.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The handsink near the cash register lacked paper towels. Food contact surfaces (a lid, liner, and tongs in a cup) were observed inside the handsinks.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure liquid soap, hot and cold running water, and paper towels are available at each handsink. Do not store anything (not even tongs in a cup).

Observation: Grocery bags were being reused to cover a few bowls containing food inside them.
Corrective Action(s): Remove the grocery bags and ensure food is covered with food grade materials (e.g. saran wrap); Correct today.

304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
Observation: Rodent droppings were observed on the floor underneath the glass display cooler. The operator mentioned that the droppings are from the past and that a pest control program on a monthly basis via TNT is in place.
Corrective Action(s): Use bleach to remove the rodent droppings from the floor underneath the glass display cooler; Correct today. Monitor for signs of new droppings on a daily basis. Provide a copy of the your most recent and/or next pest control report to the area E.H.O. of Fraser Health within 1 month.

Comments

Permit to operate was posted in a conspicuous location for public view.
Under-the-counter cooler, glass display cooler, 2-door glass cooler, and the small fridge underneath the microwave were 4 degrees C (40 degrees F) or colder.
Chest freezer temperature was -18 degrees C (0 degrees F) or colder.
No hot-holding was occurring at the time of inspection.
100-200 ppm chlorine sanitizer was set up in the two compartment sink and inside the bucket with wiping cloths.
