Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10010 - CCLR s.10(1) - Applicants for licences and licensees must notify a medical health officer immediately of any change in the information provided under section 9.
Observation: In discussion with staff, the nearby playground is being used on a daily basis by the program; this playground was not approved as a play space away for the program. The use of this playground was previously discussed between Licensing and the Licensee and the expectation is to use the outdoor licensed area (backyard). This was also discussed with the staff at today’s inspection.

During the inspection, Licensing observed the program walking through the back alley to return to the facility. Licensing discussed with staff that this route is not safe for the program to use. If the program wishes to use the playground, on an occasional basis, then a new walking route will need to be used that does not include the back alley.
Corrective Action(s): The program will use the on-site outdoor area for the program.
