Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: Review of 8 children's files noted 1 did not have a medical insurance plan number and 3 did not have immunization status.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children's records are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Review of 8 children's files noted 1 missing a medical practitioner name and phone number.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children's records are complete, parents may provide a walk in clinic.

Comments

At the inspection dated October 04, 2023 there were 126 children, 29 staff and the Manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. This inspection and the risk assessment were written on site and reviewed with the Manager, a copy was provided via email.


The following education/recommendations were provided:

- Systems in place for renewing certificates.
- Systems in place for checking emergency food supplies.
- Care plan renewal.
- Medication storage and accessibility.
- Legislative requirements for staff and children’s files.
