Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Licensing reviewed three staff files. One file did not contain a site specific criminal record check for the staff member.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure staff files are complete.

Comments

At this inspection there were 14 children, 4 staff, the Manager and the Licensee present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The Licensee is required to take corrective action to bring the facility in to compliance and provide a written response to Licensing by October 20, 2020. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool will be completed and a copy will be provided.
At this inspection the COVID-19 infection control assessment checklist was completed and a copy of the document was given to the staff on site.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
-COVID-19 prevention
-updating the transportation policy
-keeping records accessible and in a single location
-ensuring playground pieces are secured

The following resources were provided:
- Revised COVID-19 resource package for childcare facilities

The inspection findings were reviewed with the Licensee at the time of the inspection. The inspection report and facility risk assessment Tool was written off site and a copy of this report and the risk assessment will be emailed to the facility.
