Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSOP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection. The following areas were reviewed: Licensing Physical Facility Staffing Policies and Procedures Care and supervision/Hygiene and medication Nutrition Program Child Records and reporting As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided to the facility. The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency. Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Random sample of 11 children's registration files were reviewed from both care programs and all were complete with the exception of missing the enrolment date for one child. Corrective Action(s): Manager completed the information. Date to be Corrected: Completed.

Comments

At time of this inspection the following was also observed and or discussed with the Manager: --Children were observed participating in circle, listening to story, reading, having snack and going outside for play. Manager was observed interacting with the children, providing assistance with activities when needed, and maintaining supervision of the children. --Discussion took place regarding recent Legislative changes, the upcoming Director of Licensing Standard for Active Play and the new policies that will be required. --Discussion also took place regarding the Live 5-2-1-0 initiative and the Tool Kit was provided.
