Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): - Food handling (scooping/serving ice cream, putting food into toaster oven, slicing cake) occurring within area outside of approved food preparation area without convenient access to handwashing station.
Corrective Action(s): - Food handling is only to occur within approved food handling/preparation area where there is access to a handsink.

Observation: - Operator has made alterations to food premises without approval:
- Display fridge moved near entrance door with plexiglass wall/barrier and used as a service area
- Numerous freezers added to area which was previously customer seating area
- Ice cream freezer present and ice cream service occurring from this area
- Toaster oven and microwave within this area and in use

Corrective Action(s): - Operator to return premises to layout which is approved. Remove equipment which was added from the premises. [Correction date: 22-June-2021]
- All food storage and preparation to be done within approved food preparation area where there is access to handsink. Any food handling which was occurring within customer eating area to cease immediately.
- In future, Operator must submit plans for reivew and recieve approval prior to making changes to food premises.

Observation: - Debris and hair noted under shelving in back food preparation area.
Corrective Action(s): - Thouroughly clean floor, paying particular attention to hard to reach areas.

Comments

- Handsinks in food preparation area supplied with liquid soap and paper towel
- All coolers operating at 4C or colder
- All freezers maintaining food in a frozen state
- High temperature dishwasher operating and final rinse temperature was adequate to sanitize dishes. Rinse temperature at dish surface was 75C.
- Wiping cloths stored in bleach sanitizer solution. Concentration measured 200ppm.
- No signs of pest infestation noted at the time of the inspection.

Covid Safety Protocols:
- Operator did not have copy of Covid Safety Plan on-site at the time of the inspection. Operator to email a copy to the undersigned and ensure a copy is available on-site and that it has been reviewed with staff
- Plexiglass barrier in place at service area which is at door entrance. Customers not currently entering premises.
- Premises is not offering in person dining at this time. Operator has built installed partitions/walls and ceilings made of plexiglass and wood enclosing tables. Although tables are separated from other tables, barriers should not be designed or installed in such a way that they impeded ventilation in a room. Additionally, Operator must ensure that any alterations comply with any City of Burnaby requirements (eg. building code, fire).
- Bleach sanitizer solution present in spray bottle for sanitizing high touch surfaces. Alcohol based hand sanitizer present through out the premises.
