Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed TV and DVD play electric cord loosely hanging off the shelf that was accessible to children. TV was secured on the wall, however, DVD player could potentially fall if the cord is pulled.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a safe and healthy environment is provided at all times when children are in care.

Comments

At the inspection dated March 11, 2021, there were 24 children in attendance with 5 staff. At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed.
Licensing staff briefly reviewed Covid-19 infection control strategies and protocol.
Licensing staff completed Risk Screening –Covid -19 prior to inspection. This inspection report was written off site. A copy of inspection report and the risk assessment will be mailed to the facility.
