Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation: Two staff files were reviewed during the inspection, and in one of the two files, there was no evidence of character references present.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure to obtain a minimum two character references for all employees and have them available in the staff files.

Comments

At the inspection dated July 13, 2022 there were 4 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection one contravention was identified, however after discussion with the licensee, no written response is required as a plan is already in place.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
Inspection report completed off site and provided by email therefore signature not obtained. All parts of this report were discussed with the staff during the inspection.

-Diaper change table and proximity to the wash basin
-Reportable incident definitions
-Availability of nutritional information of snacks provided by the facility
-Outdoor playarea safety screening practices
