Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Residential Care Regulation (RCR), and the relevant Director of Licensinrg Standards of Practice (DLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection. The following areas were reviewed: - Licensing - Physical Facility - Staffing - Policies and Procedures - Care and Supervision - Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control - Medication - Nutrition and Food Services - Program - Records and Reporting As part of this routine inspection a facility risk assessment tool is completed. The risk assessment includes unmet regulations identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year historical review of the facility's compliance and operation.

Observed Violations

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 31860 - RCR s.69(3)(a) - A licensee must ensure that (a) all medications in the community care facility are safely and securely stored. Observation: Two unlocked medication carts were unattended and accessible to persons in care and visitors. Corrective Action(s): Ensure medication is stored securely. Date to be Corrected: July 5, 2023 CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 34660 - RCR s.81(3)(d) - A care plan must include all of the following: (d) a recreation and leisure plan. Observation: Two of seven care plans did not have a recreation plan or evidence of a reveiw in the past year. Corrective Action(s): Ensure each care plan has a recreation plan. Date to be Corrected: July 26, 2023
