Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Drywall in Classroom was exposed and accessible to the infants. The Manager stated they were having someone come repair it.
The mop and bucket was located next to the toilet in the Gym.
The kitchen door to the outdoor balcony was propped open with no staff in the kitchen. The kitchen door to the classroom was unlocked and accessible to children in care. The Manager closed the door to the balcony during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.
Ensure that the access to the balcony is not accessible to children in care.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: No emergency drill was recorded in the last year. The Manager confirmed that they have not completed an emergency drill in the last year.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a record of the yearly emergency drill is recorded.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated September 17, 2021 there were 38 children and 9 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
· First Aid and emergency equipment
· Care Plans
· Non-reportable incident logs
