Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Outdoor stair (entrance): paint peeling and slippery wooden stairs. LO discussed few strategies to address this to prevent slip and fall risk.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure children are provided with a healthy and safe environment.

Summary of Inspection
At today’s inspection there were 3 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Licensee is required to provide a written response by below date. As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed. This report was reviewed with the Manager and a copy was provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided in regards to:
-Cleaning and Sanitizing Practices
-Cover for washroom garbage bin
-Log for outdoor play space inspection, repair and maintenance
-Your Checklist
