Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act(CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations(CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice(DOLSOP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Immunization status was not obtained for staff onsite.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all staff files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): 3 children's files were reviewed; 1 child's information( i.e. sex) was missing.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensured that all children's files are complete.

Comments

On the inspection date of November 24, 2021 there were 6 children and 1 staff present. The Manager arrived and assisted LO with today's inspection. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified and the Manager took corrective action during inspection to bring the facility into compliance. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is attached.
The following were discussed with the Manager:
-LO reviewed the facility's Covid-19 safety plan with the staff
-Health and Hygiene: staff and children to practice frequent hand washing through out the day
-Emergency supplies: to ensure that emergency supplies are easily accessible and transportable for the staff member working onsite
-Stairs (18 steps): monitor and ensure that metal stairs' surface is maintained to prevent slip and fall for. Strategies discussed today
-Photo or digital image for children: to ensure that updated ( current) photo is available to staff for all children onsite
-Manager is aware of pending evacuation drill ( earthquake drill) for this location
