Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). The following areas were reviewed for compliance: Physical Facility, Staffing, Hygiene & Communicable Disease Control, Records & Reporting and Policies & Procedures. LO reviewed and discussed COVID-19 prevention strategies with the Manager.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): - Changing Pad for diapering has 2 small rips. Manager purchased a new changing pad the same day.
- Outdoor Ride on toys and play equipment need cleaning. Manager stated that all outdoor cleaning will be done by Friday April 24, 2020.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all furniture and equipment are clean and in good repair.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation: 2 children's care plans were reviewed; both need to be reviewed with the parent yearly and to be updated with any new and/or additional information ( if any).
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children's files are complete.

Comments

At this inspection dated April 21, 2020 there were 9 children and 7 staff present. Manager was on site and assisted LO with today's inspection. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to provide a written response by below date, including how areas found to be in noncompliance are addressed. The contravention noted in this report were reviewed with the manager during today's inspection. This inspection report was completed off site and emailed along with the Risk Assessment to the facility the same day.

The following education/recommendations were provided in regards to:
-Cleaning and Sanitizing
-Health & Hygiene Practices
-Social Distancing
-Precautions and Practices for Sick Children

LO provided the Resource Package for ChildCare Facilities COVID-19 Prevention, including:
-Educational Hand Washing Posters
-Cleaning and Sanitizing Resource
-Guidance in the Selection of Cleaners, Sanitizers or Disinfectants
