Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): At the time of inspection there were 9 children and 1 staff present, the Manager said she contacted the parent of 1 child to come and pick up and is aware of child/staff ratios.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the ratio of employees to children is no les than that permitted in Schedule E.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19320 - CCLR s.59(a) - In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation: At the inspection it was noted that the Manager did not have a file on site, LO discussed with the Manager having records on site.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the Manager has a file on site for review.

Comments

At the inspection dated January 10, 2023 there were 9 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
- Medication storage.
- Having a system for checking the emergency food supply.
