Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP).
All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation: A care plan does not include the course of action recommended to appropriately guide staff in caring for a child requiring additional support. This was further discussed with staff and manager.
Corrective Action(s): Staff will connect with the family to seek the required information and amend the care plan information for accuracy.

At today’s inspection there were five programs operating. Appropriate staffing levels.

At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified.
The Licensee is required to address the contraventions to bring the facility back into compliance and provide a written response to Licensing by the date below.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

The following was discussed:
- Valid CRC/s are available and reviewed expiry dates.
- Active Play promotion and outdoor play
- Hygiene and sanitization practices
- Emergency evacuation plan
- Incident reporting
- Licensing Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
- Regular review of BCCDC website for COVID-19 updates (see link below)
