Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19160 - CCLR s.57(2)(i) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation: Review of 6 children's files noted 4 were missing pictures. The Manager said that there are digital images of some children but not all. The Manager stated that she will ensure that all children have a photo or digital image.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all children in care have a photo or digital image that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Comments

At the inspection dated August 05, 2021 there were 20 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:

- Posting emergency plan and location
- System for documenting that references have been checked
- Items with a DIN # not to be used by or on children without parents' permission
- A system for having and carrying consent cards when outdoors
- Ensuring that all staff, students and volunteer have the required documents on site
