Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted today to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulationand the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice. All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: The Licensing Officer reviewed 34 emergency consent cards and noted that of these files 7 files were missing the name and telephone number of the child's medical practitioner.
Corrective Action(s): Due to the nature of this program many families do not have a medical practitioner. Families may include the name of a medical clinic, if they use one, or if no medical practitioner or clinic is applicable please have the family indicate that their child does no have a medical practitioner.

Comments

At the inspection dated January 22, 2019 there were 16 children in care with 4 staff present. At this inspection there were no violations identified therefore no action is required.

As part of this routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

Education/recommendations:
continuous active supervision;
notification of reportable incidents
mandatory inspections to assess applications for temporary placements/retentions and exemptions;
promotion of active play.
