Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation: The facility was one cloth child per child per day. It was discussed to use single use towels
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that children are using single use towels.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: 2 of 8 children in attendance are not signed in
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that each child has a record of time of arrival and departure.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: 2 of 8 children in care today did not have the name and telephone number of a parent.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated April 9, 2024 there were 8 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Valid CRC are available, reviewed expiry dates
· Reviewed expiration dates of ECE certificate
