Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: During inspection Licensing noted that fire extinguishers had not been serviced annually.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to service fire extinguishers annually.

Comments

At the inspection dated January 28, 2022 there were 6 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:

- Continuing to follow Covid-19 safety procedures.
- Immunization status can be "yes" or "no" and is not a licensing requirement.
- Licensee may have digital photos of the children in care.
- Ensuring children's registration meet all the requirements.
- Discussion was had to remove the use of the word "camp" when advertising programs. Licensee offers a unique outdoor program and is a Licensed Family Child Care.
