While on site Licensing and the facility manager walked to a nearby park as this space was proposed to be used on occasion ( field trip ) by the Group Child Care ( 30 mos-school-age ) program. The facility provides a fully fenced play area on site however would like to utilize the park on occasion. Manager stated that in past this space was not approved for use due to it's equipment as a new playground has been installed the area was reviewed. The manager is requested to place in writing some of the details pertaining to path of travel, and designated equipment as it is noted some areas of play exceed height requirements.Reviewed emergency management supplies and policies in place and had been reviewed for expiry dates. Discussed developing a system to record this information.
The facility holds a food service permit suggested posting the menu in order that families may be informed of food provided to their children.
Reviewed medication storage as staff were of the understanding that all medication is required to be secured in a lock box. The requirement is to ensure children do not have access to medications and that they are safely stored.
While touring the outdoor play area it was observed that the 3-5 year old children had a shaded area for play , it would be recommended that the Infant/ Toddlers are also provided a shaded space to promote outdoor play during very hot days like today.
At the inspection dated June 23, 2021 there were 13 children and 4 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified . Written response to be provided as discussed , Licensing to follow up should additional information be required.As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. Report written off site therefore a signature was not obtained.
