Introduction

An unscheduled follow-up inspection to the Routine Inspection #JKIM-C9CTSU was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All care categories previously identified were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14020 - CCLR s.34(2)(a) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): IT program:
Children were not divided into appropriate groups. LO observed 9 children being cared by 2 staff.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that children are divided into groups as per Schedule E of the CCLR.

CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation: Infant/Toddler Ratio - Staff to Child ratio not maintained. (IT/ECE/ASST)
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that staff:child ratio is maintained at all times while children are in care.

Comments

On the inspection date of February 17, 2022 there were 19 children, 4 staff and a practicum student present. At this inspection the contraventions identified during the routine inspection were confirmed to have been corrected except for the following items for 3 staff members: CRC and Immunization Status Records.
The following discussion was had with the manager:
-Group sizes and employee to children ratio
-Absent employees
