Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSOP).
Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

The following areas were reviewed:
Licensing
Physical Facility
Staffing
Policies and Procedures
Care and supervision/Hygiene and medication
Nutrition
Program
Child Records and reporting

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided to the facility.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #SWAR-A3SMKZ have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

The operation of the facility is in compliance with current regulations of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) apart from any listed above

On site today was the Manager and 1 other ECE trained staff with 16 children. A support worker was also on site for 1 child in attendance today.
Facility operates both morning and afternoon preschool classes for 3 and 4 year olds.
Staff to child ratio was in compliance with regulations
Staff exemptions is in place until November 11th 2016.
Programming is posted and available for parent review and children's art work is displayed on the walls.
Licensing observed Staff engaged with children and moving between groups to assist with meeting individual needs and role modelling behaviour. Licensing observed the children engaged in a variety of activities, some of which were set up as table activities. Art work, colouring, letter writing, manipulative activities and general free play. Licensing observed a circle time which children were actively engaged.
Discussions with the Manager:-
- Licensing reviewed the new additions and changes to legislation with the Manager and discussed the future release of Director of Licensing Standards of Practice for Active Play.
- Licensing provided information and resources regarding 'Live 5210'.
