Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #DCAR-AX2Q2X have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: During a walk through of the outdoor space, the following items were noted to present a potential hazard to children in care:
Garden hose presents a tripping hazard
Gate on East side of home is broken, and would allow for children to access an area that is not intended for children
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the backyard area is safe for children to engage in outdoor play

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Review of sign in/out system, it was noted that the school age children were not signed out of daycare
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children are signed in/out of the daycare at all times

Comments

At the inspection dated March 13, 2019 there were 3 children and 1 staff present.

Coded violations noted; please submit a written response on or before April 3, 2019 as to how violations have been addressed.

A walk through of the whole home took place during today's inspections, no concerns were noted. A discussion took place regarding the intent of the walk through as care is designated to the lower floor of the home.


As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
