Comments

Routine check of home-based personal services establishment. Room used is separate from residence.
Services: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) hair removal and esthetics (facials) only.
***You are not allowed to provide any services that are restricted under the Health Professions Act.
Safety & Training:
- Follow all safety requirements noted by manufacturer.
- Keep IPL Skin Therapy System device Manual on site for reference (or keep electronic version).
- Use device verified to have a Health Canada Medical Device license (Medical Device Licence number noted on back of equipment / Class 3 medical device).
- Room area doors can be closed and window in front area is completely covered during operation of the equipment. One client per visit.
- Secure access to the room as discussed when equipment is in use.
- Both doors require signs to prevent entry OR provide written information from manufacturer that signs are not needed.
- No mirrors. Cover faucet and any other reflective surfaces when equipment is in use.
- Protective eye wear for equipment operator and for client provided by manufacturer and available on site - good. **Always wear protective eyewear when equipment is in use.
- Equipment/device has a two step procedure for use as per design of machine. Store key in a secure location.
- Emergency shut off on machine.
- Operation of this device can only be carried out by operator with training. Operator has provided training certificate from equipment manufacturer. Keep copy of training certificate on site.
- Ventilation - confirm that the room has adequate ventilation (check with equipment supplier).
Infection Control:
- Hand washing sink is available in the room and has hot/cold water, liquid soap, and single use hand drying towels - good.
- High level disinfectant used for disinfecting eyewear between clients. Follow directions on label on bottle.
- Disinfecting wipes are used for other surfaces.
- Single use razor is discarded into a sharps container.
- Other single use items (wooden applicator stick, cotton pads, paper covering bed, etc.) are discarded after use.
- Cream with no DIN # has been discarded.
- Keep your infection control plan up to date.
