Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: During inspection Licensing observed an area of wall space in the IT Program where the gyprock is exposed at the children's level. This poses a risk to children as it appears they may have been picking at it with their fingers. The Director was on site and has put forward a plan to address this issue.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Comments

At the inspection dated June 21, 2022 there were 21 children and 5 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. This inspection and the risk assessment were written off site and a copy was emailed to the facility.

The Director was on site at today's inspection, the details of the inspection was reviewed with the Director.


The following education/recommendations were provided:

- Recording last date child attended.
- Addressing landscaping.
- Active supervision and continuous head count.
