Observation: 1. Containers and some alcoholic beverages are stored on ground.
2. Some food bins without lids.
Corrective Action(s): When the facility has an active pest issue, storing all products at least 6 inches above ground is top priority. Store all foods above ground to facilitate cleaning and for pest monitoring.

304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
Observation: 1. Rodent droppings observed throughout the whole facility. One dead baby mouse noted next to snap trap behind 2-door sliding cooler. Droppings observed on the floor, on top of canned goods, on top of food buckets, inside cake pans, in bins, and in washroom. Pest control company visits monthly. 3 mice were caught in last visit 2 weeks ago.
2. Fly acitivty is quite high in the food preparation area. Observed fly landing on prep counter and other areas.
Corrective Action(s): 1. Remove all droppings, and sanitize all areas. Increase pest control visit, and a thorough inspection must be done to seal all entry points.
2. As pest company suggests, keep door closed AT ALL TIMES.

Observation: 1. Many products are stored inside facility for catering business. Staff indicated some items have not been in use for years. Boxes of products and portable coolers in one corner of the facility, creating potential harbourage areas.
2. Front entrance door was open at time of visit.
Corrective Action(s): 1. Re-organize facility. Remove items not required, or items that have not been in use.
2. Door must be closed at all times, unless a screen door is installed.

A written approval must be given in order to re-open.

In order to re-open:
1. Remove all rodent droppings and sanitize.
2. Remove all items from all shelves and sanitize.
3. Re-organize facility to prevent harbourage areas.
4. A new agreement must be signed with pest control to increase pest control visit to twice per month, until rodent problem is under control (ie. 0 mouse caught 4 consecutive visits).
5. A thorough inspection by pest control company and seal entry points found. A written report should be provided.
