Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).
All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Review of the fire drill record indicated a drill was not conducted for the month of October 2019. Licensing notes staff conducted 2 fire drills in November.
Corrective Action(s): As per requirements, please ensure fire drills are conducted monthly and recorded to ensure that staff and children will be able to respond effectively should a fire emergency arise.

Summary:
At today's inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing by the date below
Licensing will review and the corrective action plan.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed and a copy was provided.

At today’s inspection there were 20 children and the Manager and one other staff were present.
40 children are currently enrolled.

The following education/recommendations were provided through discussion:
- Program promotes Active Play in the program
- Active supervision
- Log book records
- Reportable Incident reporting to Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
