Introduction

An unscheduled follow up inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).
Areas of non-compliance identified at the last routine inspection were reviewed today.
Manager had responded in writing with a compliance plan.
The following contraventions have been addressed:
11020 - The carpet areas have been cleaned but the one located in the school age program really needs replacing as some areas can't be totally cleaned
11190 - Funding has been applied for in relation to the repair of the outdoor structure. Please inform Licensing as to an estimated completion date and provide a health and safety plan as to it's use during this time.
12060, 12090, 12140,12430 - All staff files are now complete with the required information.
13020 - Emergency kits have been ordered and will arrive within the next 2 weeks
14060 - Supervision is maintained at all times
15030 - The Group Child Care program now has individual bins to store bedding to ensure effective hygiene practices.
19160 - The children's files have been updated with digital images

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12190 - CCLR s.22(2)(b) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation: On review of fire drill logs, Licensing observed that the fire drill had not been practiced in the school age program for the month of January. This is a repeat contravention. Manager stated that staff are reminded regularly to conduct the fire drill with the children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all programs conduct a monthly fire drill.

Comments

Summary of Inspection

At inspection dated February 27th 2019 there were 14 children in the group child care (30 mth to school age) program with 2 staff and 9 children in the group child care (under 36 month) program with 3 staff present. The assistant Manager was also on site and was in ratio for a portion of the inspection.
At this inspection the above noted contravention/s remain outstanding.

Licensee is required to submit a health and safety plan in relation to the outdoor play are as discussed at inspection by March 15th 2019.
Licensing will monitor the health and safety plan and a follow up inspection will be completed.

The following education/recommendations were provided through discussion:
