Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11220 - CCLR s.23(2) - A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.
Observation: LO observed and discussed about replenishing facility's first aid kit; this first aid kit must be available and accessible to all employees on/off sites.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that first aid kit has enough supplies/items, e.g. gloves, band-aids, gauzes, etc...

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19250 - CCLR s.58(2)(a) - The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation: LO observed and discussed, re: care plan
To develop a plan with a parent of the child requiring extra support, including any relevant information such as the diagnoses and course of action commended to address the needs of the child while in care.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19370 - DLSOP Safe Play Space (maintenance of equipment [b3]) - [bullet 3] Keep a log of all inspections, maintenance and repairs.
Observation: LO discussed about starting a log for all inspection, maintenance and repairs of outdoor play space.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to keep a log of all inspection, maintenance and repairs.

Comments

On the inspection date of January 29, 2021 there were 2 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified and Licensee must take corrective action to bring facility into compliance. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is attached.

LO discussed about below items with staff onsite:
- Bleach and water solution for cleaning/sanitizing. This must be prepared/ replenished daily.
- Staff files: consider using a checklist to ensure the completeness of staff files.

The contents of this inspection report were reviewed with the Licensee/Manager prior to the inspection report being written off-site, therefore no signature attached. A copy of the report was provided to the facility by email on February 1, 2021.
